Description
Tshukudu Game Lodge, started by the Sussens family in the 1980's, is situated in the Limpopo Province, close to the town of Hoedspruit and the Kruger National Park. Tshukudu Game Reserve an area of 5000ha in the Kruger National Park bushveld area. All the general plains' animals, including giraffe, wildebeest and hippo as well as all the 'BIG 5' can be viewed in the wild at Tshukudu. The building up of the Tshukudu Game Reserve has been a labour of love for the Sussens Family. This family run game lodge, a former cattle ranch, has been created through hard work and dedication from each of the four family members, who reside on the reserve. Today the results are there for all to enjoy when visiting Tshukudu.

The Sussens Family has been breeding with lions for 18 years and produced over 410 in this time. Many of these lions have been introduced back into the wild to various reserves throughout Southern Africa. Tshukudu has for many years been a haven for orphaned animals, the rehabilitation centre has cared for many species of animal and where possible releases them back into the wild. Some of these animals delight guests by joining them on the morning walk.

Making a success of Tshukudu Game Lodge, has not been easy, but with more than 50 years experience of Lolly and Ala in the tourism industry in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana, perseverance has paid off. Lolly and Ala started the famous "flame Lily Tours" in conjunction with the Rhodesian airlines also the sundowner cruises on the Zambezi river at the Victoria Falls. They then purchased the Chobe River Safari Lodge in Botswana, before returning to South Africa to start Tshukudu. The full daily program includes a morning walk before breakfast. After breakfast, guests are taken on game drives in open vehicles for close up views of the free ranging animal. Later a hearty luncheon on the lodge veranda is enjoyed and can be rounded off by lounging around the welcoming, cool pool, until tea and the afternoon game drive. The evening is ended with a delicious meal under the stars, around the boma fire. The boma is the perfect place to catch up on the days events and discuss topics of interest with your professional ranger.
