Description
Shalom is situated at the foothills of the Magaliesberg range surrounding Hartbeespoortdam. It is believed to be the oldest mountain range in the world. Sitting on the deck at Shalom will give you a panoramic view of the dam and surrounding area. Behind us is the Silkaatsnek Nature Reserve with a footpath from our property leading onto the reserve. Hike to the top through indigenous African bush and experience an African sunset. There is a saying: "Once you have tasted the dust of Africa, you'll be back!" We live in an area with ancient history, and it is here in the Cradle of Humankind where modern man started evolving. Enjoy a laidback, but exclusive stay at Shalom, experiencing the sights, smells and sounds of Africa, the birdlife and the antics of the local monkey troops. There are several golf clubs around Hartbeespoortdam. They're all different. So it's worth trying them all. Back here at the Shalom lounge you can forget your bad score with your friends, have fun, and get to bed safely. All on the same premises. From here you can go out for a pleasant drive around the dam and explore what the locals have to offer. It's a day trip, but best explored over a few days. There are many gems hidden in the area. You'll find some of them on Things to do and Links pages. Enjoy sundowners on the roof, and in summer we recommend a boat trip in the evening. We have a comfortable bar and lounge where you can mingle with local friends, or sample vintage wine in our Wine Room. Explore the local cuisine. Our décor is a blend of cultures, artfully combined by the owners. We promise a comfortable stay in a serene environment. Most of all you'll experience old fashioned South African hospitality.

We have three luxurious rooms available. Room 1 is our honeymoon suite with double bed, en-suite spa bath and shower, walk-in dressing room, comfortable chairs, small fridge and mini bar. Private balcony overlooks the dam. Situated on the top floor. Room 2 has a double bed with en-suite spa bath without a shower. Private balcony overlooks the dam. Situated on the top floor. Room 3 has a double bed with en-suite spa bath without a shower. Balcony and private corner outside. Situated on the ground floor. Separate door in bathroom leads outside to an open cold shower. A blessing in summer. Airconditioning in all the bedrooms and heaters in all the bathrooms. Due to the topography, there are stairs to most areas ~ which adds to the charm of Shalom, and affords guests with breathtaking views. So, unfortunately, we're not wheelchair-friendly.

The Café Society promises a unique and exclusive event where you can enjoy unplugged performances by musicians, poets and other artists. These events are not marketed to the public and are by personal invitation or referral only. On the premises we have a great venue with comfortable seating and a licensed bar where you can mingle with other cool people in an intimate and friendly atmosphere. Meet members of the local community and local artists. Combined with an awesome view of Hartbeespoort dam, you'll experience a special moment that you can take home with you. Isn't that what modern travel is all about? Shalom is involved in the promotion of art and in particular young talent who need a showcase for their craft. We wish to create an awareness of arts and culture, and with it the positive image of businesses involved. Keep an eye on our events page.
