Description When Philippus Wolvaart acquired a prime piece of land in the Klein Drakenstein, near Paarl in the heart of the Cape Winelands in 1791 and named it Nederburg, he could scarcely have known he was laying the foundation for one of South Africa's best-known and best-loved named in wine. More than two centuries later, Nederburg continues to make wine in this peaceful enclave set against the majestic Drakenstein Mountains. Beautifully gabled and finely proportioned, Nederburg's manor house, completed in 1800, has become an icon in the Cape winelands. To enter the peaceful tranquility of the thatched-roofed, white-washed, H-shaped Nederburg manor house is to experience a distillation of life lived over 200 years ago.We serve breakfasts, lunches and dinners inside or in front of the manor house, but these must be pre-booked. We've just introduced a very special fine dining experience called Nederburg's Exclusive Gourmet Pleasures. Each of the six seasonal dishes in this experience will match a wine from the lauded, limited-edition Manor House varietal and Ingenuity blended collections. From November to March, picnic baskets brimming with home-made delicacies can be pre-ordered and enjoyed under the giant oak trees with the spectacular Drakenstein Mountains as a backdrop. Allow the surrounding Drakenstein Mountains, verdant vineyards and magnificent gardens to relax and revive you, while sipping on a glass of wine and feasting on the delicious foods packed in Nederburg's picnic baskets. With the historically preserved Nederburg manor house in close view, a fabulous picnic at one of the Cape's friendliest and best-loved wine farms cannot be missed! The manor house can also be booked as a venue for private functions, allowing for a maximum of 70 guests.
