Description
Latest newcomer to the growing Little Mowbray restaurant scene is Drew's on Durban. Passionately owned, managed and fronted by Andrew Cole and partner Callie Collins, Drew's is about as relaxed as dining out can be. The portions are generous and if you're there on an evening that the Arsenal are on song, the free Tequila's appear from nowhere!With a Diner approach to the menu, the food at Drew's is informal and hands on. Burgers, grilled meat dishes, pastas and seafood are the order of the day. But in this rock-themed restaurant nothing is predictable so keep an eye on the daily Blue Plate Specials. (Keeping a vanishing tradition alive, these are actually served on a blue plate - one of the many interesting quirks that make Drew's worth a visit.)

The secret to the taste that is unique to the food at Drew's is Andrew's love of creating unique flavours. You won't find an off-the-shelf sauce here. Everything is same day hand prepared. An unstoppable force in the kitchen, Andrew is constantly interfering, stirring, adding and tasting as he manipulates simple ingredients into mouth-watering flavour. His peri-peri sauce is already legendary and good luck trying to get the recipe out of him!The layout of the restaurant accommodates a spacious general family dining area as well as a smoking bar/dining section - making Drew's one of the few restaurants around that also caters for smokers. The restaurant can comfortably seat 70 people and one of the plusses of an evening at Drew's is that there is no attempt from management to turn tables over quickly. You can enjoy your meal at your leisure as you soak up the atmosphere of this gem of a restaurant.

Drew's on Durban is truly a special find. Great food, great music and hosted by a larger than life character whose passion for food is evident in every mouthful, this is a restaurant that'll definitely have you coming back for more.
