Cool Runnings - Melville is a Jamaican paradise in the middle of Johannesburg's urban sprawl. Located in the "village" of Melville, Joey's own Bohemian heartland, Cool Runnings is the perfect party venue to let your hair down, get drunk, cause a riot or simply relax and watch the sun go down. We offer a complete range of alcoholic "highs", including every conceivable type of shooter ever invented and a complete range of totally original cocktails including Cool Runnings "poison" which contains a large amount of Stroh rum... we dare you!

We also offer a full restaurant menu which leans heavily towards island style cuisine, including such dishes as island style curries, Jamaican schwarma's, stir fries, jerk and creole dishes as well as lots of basket dishes to share between friends. Look out for our seasonal specials which change on a regular basis. Cool Runnings also caters for large functions, whether it be a birthday, farewell, office party or just an excuse to get hammered, we have the perfect package to meet your party needs...
and we guarantee you a party that you will always remember (or not, depending on you!)

Cool Runnings also offers regular special nights, including student's night on a Monday, live bands down in the dungeon on Tuesdays (entrance is R20), a funky latino band playing from 1pm onwards every Saturday - they're called Yes Brazil! And a jammin' reggae band that pops up every now and again. We have a complete gig guide on our web space. And of course our now famous 'Comedy Underground' on a Sunday night hosted by the hilarious Mr. John Vlismas and his sidekick Bevan Cullinan... be warned... it's first come first served, so start queuing at about 18:30.

Shimuwini is a Shangaan word for "Place of the Baobab Tree". The camp is so named because the nearby Letaba River which fronts the cottages, is lined with these huge trees, one of them estimated to be between 2 000 and 3 000 years old. Shimuwini Bushveld Camp is the most modern of the bushveld camps, being completely rebuilt after the floods in 2000.
